Story
Have you been searching for the best Burrito in LA?! Search no longer, because he’s RIGHT HERE! Meet your new bestie, BURRITO! This sweet and spicy senior has waited his entire life (we think around 10 years) to have a family of his own! Despite being failed by people, Burrito is a happy papa pup with a spunky and silly personality. He adores walks - we like to think his personal motto is “WILL SMOOCH FOR WALKS”. This goofy boy will always keep you smiling, but he also has the biggest heart. Burrito has been through so much hardship in his life and deserves to live out his senior years in a cozy, warm home where he knows he is safe and loved. Could you be his hero? Burrito was rescued (with his four babies - Ceviche, Salsa, Enchilada and Taquito) in South Korea where he lived his entire life chained up a broken down shack outside of a factory, neglected and physically abused. As soon as we rescued Burrito, we took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with heartwom. Luckily we were able to get him treated right away and he is now a healthy and happy little hunk, but he is still waiting for his hero to get him out of the shelter in South Korea. He watched his three daughters take their freedom flight to LA, and he’s left wondering when it will be his turn. Let’s reunite the Perrito family and get Burrito to LA! All we need is a committed foster or adopter! Apply TODAY! Burrito is now safe with our shelter partner in Korea, patiently waiting for his freedom flight. All we need to get him here is a committed foster or adopter! Will he land with you? Apply today!

Enchilada is a precious 4 year old, female corgi mix who is about 13 lbs. Our partner in South Korea found her living in dangerous conditions, chained up with her father and siblings. For months we've been begging their "owner" to surrender them, visiting daily to ensure they have food & water. Finally he agreed! Enchilada is currently heartworm positive getting his treatment. We anticipate her being healthy enough to board her freedom flight sometime in the end of October! We need a committed foster or adopter to get Enchilada on her freedom flight! Will she land with you? Apply today!

Story
Meet Bro! ***Currently in Toronto!!! Age: 1–2 years Weight: 10kg Breed: Welsh Corgi Mix Color: Brown & White Neutered Male Personality & Social Behavior (With People) Bro is a charming, affectionate dog who seeks out human connection—whether he knows you or not! He loves cuddling, leaning into people for pets, and has a naturally sociable personality. He’s also incredibly smart and can learn new commands in as little as 30 minutes. That said, Bro is not a pushover. He’s clever enough to test boundaries and will behave differently depending on the person’s energy or confidence. He doesn’t like having a leash put on or being touched around the head, neck, or hips. He has occasionally reacted with a light nip (enough to leave a mark but not break skin) if startled or overstimulated. Interestingly, at the vet—when wearing a muzzle—he behaved like a complete gentleman and even received compliments from the medical staff after calmly receiving two injections. He seems to quickly assess whether he’s in control or not, and adjusts his behavior accordingly. Social with Dogs Bro is outgoing and friendly with other dogs—both familiar and new. He approaches dogs of all sizes with a wagging tail and play invitations. While he does sometimes get nervous around large dogs (curling his tail down), he’s never aggressive. He’s most comfortable with dogs similar in size or smaller. However, he can be overly enthusiastic—jumping on or crowding other dogs—so he may not be a good match for shy or easily irritated pups. Cats & Birds He shows strong curiosity toward cats and birds during walks, often trying to chase them. This behavior appears to stem from playful instinct rather than aggression. Energy Level Bro is still young and full of energy! He enjoys walks and playtime but can also settle down nicely. If you ignore him during work or rest time, he’ll often entertain himself with toys or quietly nap. ‍ Leash Behavior He tends to pull on the leash, but overall listens well and follows his handler. He’s easily redirected with a cheerful voice, calling his name, or picking up the pace. Walks with Bro include lots of stop-and-sniff moments—he’s a curious explorer! Other Notes • Resource guarding: He guards food from both people and other dogs. He once reacted to being pet while eating a treat. • Mild separation anxiety: He may bark briefly when his primary caretaker leaves but settles down quickly. • House training: Mostly does his business outdoors, though he may use pee pads if he can’t go out for a long time. • Crate-trained: Understands the “house” command and rides well in a crate during car trips. Special Needs & Ideal Training Approach Bro is extremely intelligent and emotionally perceptive. He’s quick to read people and situations, which can be both a strength and a challenge. He dislikes being touched around the head and hips but has made progress with consistent, gentle desensitization. Still, he may mouth or nip if overstimulated. He will thrive under positive reinforcement. He’s successfully learned “wait,” “shake,” and “down” in just 10–30 minutes each. If you build trust and make training a fun, rewarding experience, Bro will shine. Rescue Story Bro was found wandering in front of a convenience store and brought to a local shelter after being reported. He’s now safe, healthy, and ready to find the right person who will understand and nurture his intelligent, affectionate spirit. Meet Mandoo Age: 3–4 years Weight: 6kg Height: 28cm (shoulder height) Breed: Welsh mix Color: Brown & White Neutered Male Rescue Story Mandoo was found wandering around an apartment complex and ended up in a city shelter after being reported by a resident. Now he’s looking for a forever home where he’ll never be alone again. People Skills Mandoo is a sweet, snuggly boy who adores attention from both familiar people and strangers. He leans in for pets and loves a good treat! Sudden touches can startle him, but once he trusts you, he’ll roll over for belly rubs and even let you lift him gently under the belly. He hasn’t met children under 13 yet. Dog Social Skills Friendly and curious, Mandoo loves trying to make dog friends—even if he sometimes gets left out of the fun. He’s gentle, non-confrontational, and prefers to walk away rather than react if another dog gets moody. Best with dogs his size or smaller! With Cats He hasn’t been tested with cats yet, but this can be arranged if needed. Energy Level Mandoo has a balanced energy—he enjoys outdoor adventures but also knows how to chill and relax indoors. Leash Manners Still learning the ropes! He can be startled by new sights and sounds but seeks comfort from his person. With gentle guidance and practice, he’s gaining confidence every day. Other Notes Not food-aggressive but loves his meals—so he might sneak snacks from other dogs if given the chance. He’s not suited for long crate time but is okay being left alone for short periods. Mandoo is generally quiet, only barking occasionally when something unfamiliar catches his attention. Mandoo is looking for a kind, patient adopter who will help him build confidence and feel safe. If that sounds like you, come meet this little sweetheart! Send in your application today!!! https://Adoptmekr.org/adoption-application/ Currently in Korea, available for international adoption :) Please also check out his post on our Facebook Link to Post or Instagram Link to Post! ##2443781##

Meet Nala Breed: Pembroke Welsh Corgi Age: 12/04/2024 Weight: 25 pounds currently Gender: Female (Spayed) Personality Nala is a bundle of joy and affection, always ready to brighten up your day with her infectious happiness. She loves nothing more than a good belly rub and is known to roll right over, inviting you to give her some love. Her friendly nature makes her an excellent companion for both humans and other dogs. She has a gentle disposition and is wonderful with children, making her a perfect family pet. Breed Information Pembroke Welsh Corgis are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and energetic personalities. Despite their small stature, they are sturdy and agile, often displaying a playful and spirited demeanor. Corgis are herding dogs by nature, so they require regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. What to Expect As a Corgi owner, you can expect a loyal companion who is eager to please. Nala will thrive in a home where she gets plenty of attention and companionship. Regular walks, playtime, and interaction with other dogs will keep her content. Her herding instincts may occasionally lead her to gently nip at heels, but with proper training, this can be managed. Owner's Responsibilities Exercise: Ensure Nala gets sufficient daily exercise to burn off her youthful energy. A combination of walks, playtime, and mental challenges will be ideal. Training: Enroll her in obedience classes to reinforce her social skills and manage any herding tendencies. Corgis are quick learners, so consistent training will yield great results. Grooming: Regular brushing is important to manage her shedding and keep her coat healthy. Corgis typically shed year-round, with heavier shedding during seasonal changes. Health Care: Keep up with regular vet check-ups and vaccinations. Be mindful of her diet to maintain a healthy weight, as Corgis can be prone to obesity. Affection and Socialization: Provide plenty of love and social interaction. Nala will thrive in an environment where she feels part of the family. Adopting Nala means committing to a lifelong friend who will bring joy and laughter into your life. Whether she's playing in the yard or snuggling up next to you on the couch, Nala is sure to be a beloved member of your family. Story
** Note: Lapa can fly to LA and join her forever family on June 30, upon adoption. She is currently in Korea. Background: Lepa was rescued earlier this spring from a city pound in Milyang, Korea. Since her rescue, she's been staying at our boarding house, surrounded by other dogs, all patiently waiting for her forever family. Personality and Socialization: Lepa is a soft-hearted and calm girl with a sweet, easygoing personality. She has a nice balance of energy—enough to be playful and engaging, but never overwhelming. Lepa enjoys being close to people and happily soaks up affection and cuddles whenever she can. She gets along well with other dogs, particularly smaller ones with friendly, gentle temperaments. Her favorite playmates at the boarding house are younger, small dogs like herself. If another dog is bossy or too intense, Lepa simply chooses to walk away rather than react. Behaviour: Lepa handles car rides calmly and has been a breeze during vet visits and bath time. The veterinary staff often comment on how cooperative and easy she is to work with. She uses both indoor pee pads and goes potty outdoors. Although still getting used to walking on a leash, she’s making progress and will benefit from continued gentle guidance and positive reinforcement. She also enjoys playing with toys—whether it’s tossing them around by herself or sharing in some light-hearted play with a doggy friend. Health and Diet: Lepa is in great health. She’s been spayed, microchipped, and is current on all her vaccines. Her parasite screenings were negative, and she’s on regular monthly preventatives. She eats dry kibble and hasn’t shown any signs of allergies. Her most recent checkup confirmed that she’s healthy and ready to start the next chapter of her life. Ideal Home: Lepa is a loving and clever young pup who’s still discovering the world around her. She would do best in a home where she’s given time, patience, and gentle support to continue building confidence and trust. Because she’s still so young, we’re looking for a family with a flexible schedule—someone who can be home most of the day to help her settle in and provide the attention and care she needs during this critical stage. A work-from-home individual or a retired adopter would be a great fit. With love and consistency, Lepa will blossom into a loyal, affectionate, and happy companion. Adopting a Corgi

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Corgi - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

If you buy a Corgi puppy from a breeder, you should expect to pay up to $3,500.

From a breeder, Corgis can cost between $600 to $3,500, though some have been sold for as much as $2000, depending on the breeder’s location and the quality of the breed. Cardigan Welsh Corgis are more expensive because they are rarer than the Pembroke.

You can adopt a Corgi on Adopt a Pet from a local animal shelter or rescue for much less than it would cost to purchase one from a breeder. An adoption fee for a Corgi will usually be a few hundred dollars, which helps to cover the cost of caring for a Corgi prior to adoption.

The easiest way to adopt a Corgi would be through a rescue that specializes in Corgis. A great place to start would be by starting a breed search on Adopt a Pet. The search will show you all the available Corgis in your area.

If you adopt your Corgi from a rescue, you should expect your first year to cost anywhere from $420 to $3,270, depending on training, health care needs, and supplies.

Corgi fun facts

Fun Facts:

Welsh legend says the fairies and elves of Wales used the Pembroke Welsh Corgi to pull fairy coaches, work fairy cattle, and serve as the steed for fairy warriors.

Corgis are world-class herders.

Corgis have two distinct types and in 1934, the AKC recognized the Pembroke and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi as two different breeds.
